Standing In Heaven’s Judgement Line

Everyone is going to be nudged by God. Commonly. People say we are going to wait in line to see the Lord. In that line, you will be full of emotions, but these emotions will either be positive or negative. The emotion that you feel will depend on you.

What is going to be our emotion when we are standing in that line? Imagine being in that line tomorrow waiting to be judged. Imagine the line moving slowly as you begin to look around at the other faces. People from all over the world. We will see familiar faces as well as unfamiliar faces. Everyone is nervous and excited to meet the Lord for the first time on judgment day,

As we look up the line we see Frank. We all know Frank he was a man who had no food, or friends and his clothes were worn and raggy. Maybe we’ve laughed at him or made jokes about him and maybe felt a little sorry for him at times, but we never stopped to help or talk to him. All of the sudden we start to feel bad. We remember the scriptures that told us to love our neighbor and feed and clothe the poor. But we never really cared until now. Now we are in line and it’s too late.

And then we see Jack, we all know Jack. He was a great guy. He was well-known in town and everyone loved him. We would stop and talk to him. He had great kids and a wonderful wife. He was a local representative and seemed to have everything. He drove a nice car and lived in a huge house. But the problem was that we knew that Jack didn’t believe in God. We start talking to each other in line. Someone asks did he ever go to church. No, no no, is all that is said. Did anyone invite him to church, I thought you would have asked him. Everyone in line says they never did. We all started to feel bad because we never did. We all started to feel bad because we all knew he was going to hell and we passed him every day and said nothing.

Then we start worrying. Is God going to hold us accountable for never mentioning Jesus to him? Will his life be on our hands?

In Matthew 28: 19-20 Jesus says, Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you, I am always with you always, even to the end of the age,

Mark 16:15-18 says, “He who believes and in baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will be condemned. We all knew the Bible, but too bad we never told him. No one can look him in the eye because of what we have done. We let him go to hell with a slap on the back and a firm handshake. We are ashamed of ourselves for never mentioning Jesus or inviting him to church.

There’s a guy that comes to talk to me every time he sees me. I bought his wife’s Jeep from a dealership, who recently passed away. I know he doesn’t know Jesus. Yet, I have never invited him to church or talked to him about Jesus. I think now about if I was standing in line on judgment day.

This sparked a reflection of how faithful we are to the Lord. Do we truly serve Him to the best of our ability? Do we not no to church because of lame excuses are plain lack of serious commitment? How about reading our Bible or our prayer life? Do we serve God’s people or do we expect everyone to serve us? It’s easy to take our belief in God for granted on earth. There are always other tasks to accomplish and sometimes television is just to good that night, or our mornings too busy.

It’s sad because we all want to go to heaven but on judgment day we wonder if we will be going. Maybe you never made friends in church when we did go because we were not involved in God’s work. In my church about 10% do God’s work and attend weekly Bible studies or prayer meetings. They are just to busy or tired with earthly life to wonder seriously if they are going to heaven.

Mark 8:36 says, “For what shall it profit a man, to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul.”

What will we exchange our souls?

Luke 9:26 says, “For whoever is ashamed of me and my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed, when He comes in His glory, and the glory of the Father, and the Holy angels.”

It’s easy to make up reasons why it is just not possible to live up to this verse. And brainstorming to come up with reasons why we still should go to heaven. But the excuses will seem so little when we are standing in line on judgment day,

The scariest words in the Bible to me are in Luke 6:46:

“Why do you call Me Lord Lord and not do not do the things I say.”
