Observe Don’t Just See

Observation is a fundamental way of understanding the world around us. Being human we are well equipped with senses destined to neurons, which pick details from every aspect of our lives. Where we just look and listen to things around us. Close attention to details to details such as focus analyze reasoning and memorizing.

We have to be selective for collecting useful information because human senses are highly bombarded by lots of information. Our brains do many processes. It not only helps you to be more aware and smarter but will enhance your performance and social personality. It is a highly important life skill which many people take for granted.

Designers are creators, they innovate their ideas. A lot of people have done exceptional work from every part of the world. But there is one thing which is common in all, which is the perspective of seeing the world differently. They observe things in a way that no one does. And that clearly shows in the kind of execution and detail they put into their product.

If you make listening and observation, you will gain much more than you can talk.

Observationv is the action or process of observing something or someone in order to gain information.

Out observation skills inform us about objects, events, attitudes, and phenomena using one or more senses. Additionally, being able to observe and gather information about the world is important because it’s the basis of communicating well.

Improving your observation skills allows you to listen with more than just your ears and make better decisions. It also enhances your ability to interact with others and to respond in an appropriate manner. Both are keys to success at work and at home. In the workplace, a good employee not only listens well but is also aware of what is happening around them.

Observations are what you perceive with your senses. Perception is taking what we observe and organize it to give it meaning. Our perception is determined by our past experiences, culture, values, and beliefs. Because each person signs different values to each of these influences, the same object or event is perceived differently by different people. This is why multiple eyewitnesses to the same crime often have very different description of the same suspect or event. Although our eyes may see the same thing, we filter, and perceive it differently.

For a very long time, I lived in a black bubble not observing anything around me. I felt like no one cared what I thought or cared at all. I was in a very dark place. I followed the rules. I took care of what my family needed. I was on autopilot. I went through the motions with absolutely no feeling because in my past experiences feelings hurt. I felt like I was in a coma for 40 years. I was achieving the goals of life but there was not happiness involved.

Another limit to our perception is our human brain. Optical illusions point out these li it’s. Looking at an optical illusion, you may think that a straight line is curved or a still image to be moving. You don’t always see what you think you can do.

Despite the limits of our brains, people have a remarkable ability to focus, and that ability enables us to accomplish our goals. Even when we are focused we may not see everything we are focused on Our misconception about how week we can focus on a task makes us prone to distractions.


How often are you distracted by working on something? It’s a question that’s almost laughable, fight? Most of us are distracted more than five times an hour. We get emails and phone calls. We take breaks and browse the internet. People stop by for a quick chat and friends send us amusing instant messages. Detractions happen every day.

Managing your focus and knowing how to handle distractions are valuable skills hat can easily be learned. These skills improve your focus and prevent costly mistakes in your life.

What distracts you the most? Noise, too many emails? Maybe stress from an upcoming deadline? We have so many things that compete for our attention. I have to admit mine is cleaning the house, once I start I cannot stop because if I do I’m done. I can’t go back to it. Something I have to turn off the phone to get anything done.

Has this ever happened to you you set aside time to do something to focus on a task, but then something distracts you? When you finally get back to your task you only have a few minutes until your next task.


Be honest. Tell people that you are doing something and you can’t have any distractions. And you will get with them later.

Let people know. If the conversations around you are disruptive, ask the them to quiet down or if they can move to a different room.

Use visual cues. Wear headphones if you are able. I use headphones and listen to up beat music when I clean house. It helps me move at a faster pace. And get things done.

Be considerate. Respect those who need to get things done. Don’t interrupt others while they’re trying to stay on task.

Pre-plan to do tasks that need your direct attention. Have drinks or snacks on hand. Stop for lunch to keep energy levels up. But get right back to work after. Keep a steady pace while doing tasks.
