Your faith is meant to grow and go. Just like a mustard seed. As we come into the holidays I pray that you will see your face grow like a mustard seed and that you would be encouraged with fruit from your tiniest labors of love and faith.
What is a mustard seed?
A mustard seed is about 1 or 2 millimeters in size. Yet, the bush can roll upwards to 20 to 30 feet tall and wide.
The picture the lord painted for the disciples was one of hope! Our faith doesn’t need to be outwardly large to have a large impact.
A tiny mustard seed holds the potential of a 30 foot bush. A seemingly in sequential speck of faith can move mountains.
Every day our days are filled with lots of small acts that we do in faith. Faith that God has entrusted to your our families, our jobs, even the simplest thing is going to the store. Faith that the growth that happens In the smallest of things will have eternal value. Faith that the witness of our deeds what is a part of a larger tapestry of testimony to love and grace from God. Small apps done with hope and the seed planting work will grow for God‘s glory.
When I wash my mind with the truth of a mustard seed thinking, I immediately find my heart invigorating for the tasks at hand. When I listen to the lady at the grocery store line who freely offers her non-master seat thinking advice about what I asked to be doing in my life, it’s like someone pulled the plug on my energy and I am weary of this work.
Regardless of your station in life, your faith matters greatly in this life and the eternal life. We don’t have to be a Billy Graham to be a great witness. You don’t have to be wealthy to give greatly. If you don’t,treat yourself to a Sunday afternoon movie or book and catch up on this inspirational life A seemingly small act of kindness of saying a faith filled prayer for someone, or whatever face motivated act we take, no matter how small, can I have an eternal and mountain moving impact on another’s life.
Jesus’s teaching regularly highlighted small acts of great value. From the widows mite to the woman walking his feet (Mark 14:6-9) Small gifts in the gospel pages are highlighted as highly significant value for eternal life.
How To Have Faith Of A Mustard Seed
When we consider our life and our faith, we are using what we have the fourth or have we decided that it is for someone else with a bigger or better faith and do the witnessing, or the praying, or the giving? How we figured that our contribution could never be enough to make a difference, so we hold back? Have we considered that what God has entrusted to us is meant to grow large and wide, like a mustard bush? Do we tend our faith with that sort of expectation?
Our faith is meant to grow and go. Just like a mustard seed. As we come upon the holidays I pray that you will see your faith grill like a mustard seed and that you would be encouraged with fruit from your highest labor of love and faith.
Philippians 1:6 says “ for I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of the Lord.”
