If I Could Relive One Day

The writing prompt question is, “If I could relive one day from the past what day would it be and why?”

If I could relive one day from my past it would be my wedding day. Planning my wedding was a blessing because every thing fell into place. I was given the cake, the dress from the local bridal shop, mostly because the dress was for someone under 5 ft tall and she couldn’t sell it, even though I offered to pay she gave it. Even the professional pictures were taken for free. All of it because of generosity and a refusal to take any pay for the blessings they gave.

The only hiccup was that we each invited 50 people (25 each) because the church was small, and about 100 showed up without invitation. So we had to scramble to move things around.

My wedding day was pure joy, sacred promises and deep love when we were joined.
38 years has passed and through all the challenges of poor communication, financial stress, and fading intimacy that hid the deeper need for safety, respect, and emotional connection. I think marriages to today fail because they refuse to bury the trouble and lose direction of the goal of a long happy life with someone. They have stopped going to God to fix their marriages. I always believed that God needs to be the third person in any marriage if it’s going to survive.
