Life is a fight, and we have to learn to fight tight if we’re going to win. When we understand that the fight is in the spiritual realm, it all begins to make sense. And we have to know how to use God’s Word as a weapon (just as Jesus did). It’s our only offensive piece of equipment that the Lord gives us in Ephesians 6. The Word is the sword of the Spirit. Sin will keep us from the Bible, but the Bible has the power to keep us from sin. One of Satan’s tricks is to get us so busy that we do not read the Bible. We should read it even when it feels like it isn’t having an effect on us.
When Jesus faced Satan, He said, “It is written.” He knew that when we look Satan in the eye, to speak the Word of God because that is the sword of the Spirit. We don’t stay in defeat. When we go through battles, we refuse to stay down. We have a weapon to use against Satan and his minions that has never lost -The Word of God.
There is something about tasting failure in an area of our lives. When things don’t go the way we think they should, Satan can set up a stronghold and say, “Now don’t ever try that again.” When that happens we need to know that Satan is targeting us for defeat. Satan will try to set up strongholds in our lives by using our history in a situation. Don’t fall for it.
Maybe it’s your finances, or relationships, or perhaps your like me and your past hasn’t been fair and full of hardship and has marked you at every turn. Our thinking can become a stronghold where our past says, “nothing is ever going to change so give up.” In life we all have to go through straggle. Bu divine persistence is what is needed to find victory. We should never forget the battle as won by Jesus on the cross. The only power Satan has in our lives is the power we give him. Victory is our inheritance as children of God.
The thing that keeps us from having what God says is ours is the power is a lack of vision and the refusal to get up and walk by faith. The thing that will keep us from what God says is ours- the “promised land” is not Satan , it is our own lack of courage and faith to believe God is actually for us. Maybe the problem has never been Satan, maybe it is when we become blind and lose our vision and our ability to walk by faith.
