James 1:19-20 is a well known verse that teaches practical wisdom for communication and emotional control.
“So then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.”
There are core instructions to this verse:
- Be swift to listen : pay close attention and seek to understand others before reacting.
- Be slow to speak: pause and think carefully about the impact of your words.
- Be slow to become angry: control your temper instead of letting frustration take over
Human anger will always fail us. Personal or selfish wrath doesn’t bring about righteousness; and that’s not the kind of life God wants us to live.
