Officially An Adult

The Prompt question was, “When did you officially realize you were an adult?”
According to man’s laws, we are officially adults when we are 18. But sometimes things happen where you have to make adult choices, and run your life because no one else will.
I feel like I was never given a chance to be a child. And most of the time I made my own choices, my own curfew, I had to find my own food or I didn’t eat.
I reached the point where I had no choice but to be an adult. The official age may have been 18 but it was about 12 because adults failed me, I stopped asking for help because no one answered. I managed my own life because I had no choice.
