Understanding The Seasons Of Life

The seasons in how they relate in our lives is the key to understanding how God works.

Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, not sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law (the will and ways) of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night ( Psalm 1:1).

We are told over and over again in Scripture to do the will of God and to find the will of God.

The Will Of God

“Be not comforted to this world; but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is good and acceptable, and the perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:2).

“Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise. Making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is (Ephesians 5:15-17).

Nebuchadnezzer learned that God rules over all. No matter if they are a follower or not.

“This decision is by the decree of the watchers, and the sentence by the word of the Holy ones. To the intent that by living may know that the Most High rules in the kingdoms men. Gives it to whoever He will, and sets over it the lowest of men” (Daniel 4:17).

“You shall be driven from men; and your dwelling shall be with the animals of the field. You shall be made to eat grass as oxen. Seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the king of men, and gives it to whenever He will (Daniel 4:32).

The Most High is sovereign over the kingdom of men and gives them to anyone He wishes.

Seasons

“He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, that produces its fruit in its season. Whatever he does shall prosper” (Psalm 1:3).

“To everything there is a season. A time for every purpose under heaven (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

Understand that God has a Plan for Your Life.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).

Lessons on Life

There was a man who had 4 sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away. The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer and the youngest son in the fall. When they had all gone and came back, he called them together to describe what they had seen. The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted. The second son said no it was covered with green buds and full of promise. The third son disagreed; he said it was covered with blossoms that smelled sweet and looked beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen. The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment. The Father explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had each seen but only one season in the trees life. He told then that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season, and that the essence of who they are and the pleasure, joy, and love that came from that life can only be measured at the end, when all seasons are up. If you give up when it’s winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, and your fulfillment of your fall.

We like the pear tree in this story all go through seasons.

Understand:

  • We are all going through a season.
  • All seasons have a purpose.
  • If we don’t fulfill the purpose off the season then we will cause problems for the other seasons.
  • Preparation is the key to have a success season.
  • We can bear fruit even if we don’t cultivate and p,ant the land that season.

How To Respond To The Seasons Of Life

  • Choose faith over frustration

“But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations ( Psalm 33:11).

  • Choose gratitude over grumbling

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit ( 1 Thessalonians 5:16-19).

“ Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).

  • Choose good over gain

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of a believer” (Galatians 6:9).

  • Choose to fear God rather than fear life

“The fear of the Lord leads to life: Then one rests content, untouched by trouble” (Proverbs 19:23).

For God has not given us a Spirit of fear, cowardice, timidity opposite – He has given us the opposite – boldness, confidence and the power of live and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).

Beauty For Ashes

Whatever way your ashes might have come, the Lord wants to exchange your beauty for ashes. The Lord wants to give us beauty to show forth His glory.

The prophet Isaiah spoke there things saying:

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is no me because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good new to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn and provide for those who grieve in Zion – to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor.

Isaiah 61:1-3

What Are These Ashes?

Ashes are literally residues of combustion. You may have been burned in business dealing, academics, finances, or marriage, and usually, after such disheartening experiences you are left clutching ashes.

Ashes symbolize and provoke an attitude of repentance.

The Israelites, when they repented from their wicked ways, would their ashes on their heads as a way to show God and man that they were sorry and genuinely repentant of their wayward ways. After this they would wash off and come out renewed. Until you repent with an attitude of genuineness, you will remain in your place of ashes.

Do, I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with Him in prayer and petition, and fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.

Daniel 9:3

Ashes Of Repentance

If you are genuinely remorseful, you will be in a place of ashes and this may not mean that you literally throw ashes upon yourself, but that your heart attitude is the same as the one who has to throw ashes upon themselves to show it to the world.

You may not be in certain circumstances need to show outwardly your ashes, but God who sees the heart knows whether you have genuinely repented or not, whether you have ashes indeed. Repent toward God as only He can genuinely silver you from the situation you find yourself in.

Ashes Of Suffering From Injustice

The account of Tamar, the daughter of King David, is a very touching one. This blossoming young virgin girl found herself in a place of ashes not as a result of her own wickedness or transgression or even carelessness, but as a result of evil meted to her by her own half-brother. She found herself in a place of ashes by no circumstances of her own making.

Tamar put ashes on her head and tore the ornate robe she was wearing. She put her hands on her head, and went away weeping aloud as she went.

2 Samuel 13:19

You can read the rest of this account in 1 Samuel 13.

You sometimes may not find yourself in a place of ashes as a result of things you have done, but probably as a result of what has been done to you.

Sometimes the problems you are passing through in life have dealt you your ashes.

You may have been betrayed by a very close friend, set up by business colleagues, locked up in prison for a false allegation, or taken advantage of because you are weaj. Whatever way your ashes might have come, the Lord wants to exchange your beauty for ashes.

The Case Of Job

So Satan went out from the presence of the Lotd and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head.

Job 2:7

The man called job in the Bible did not suffer because of what he did wrong. In fact he suffered because of his righteousness. Sometimes inlife, being good can attract some kinds of suffering but that is not to keep us from continuing to do good. It’s to take us from one level of doing good to a greater level.

Yes, Job was righteous, but he was self-righteous. You can tell from his words and the tone of his arguments with his friends. His righteousness was based on his works, not grace, and God wanted to teach him a lesson in justification by faith and not by works. That was why Hod allowed him to have that experience; to be tested.

One thing God was sure about was that Job would never deny or renounce his faith in Him. Job passed the test and God rewarded his ashes with beauty and lifted him from the heap of ashes and dung to a heap of wellbeing and nourishment.

Even though Job went through the worst experience anyone could ever handle, but I t in the end, it was to show forth the glory of God.

The Case Of The Man Born Blind

Jesus spoke something about a man who was born blind and who remained so for 38 years of his life. When Jesus came to heal this man, He was asked who or what was responsible for this mans condition. Jesus answered that the cause of the man’s condition was immaterial but rather, it was for God’s own glory.

You may be going through a sorrowful experience not but there is beauty coming your way in the end.

Trouble In The World

Sometimes you are hated for doing nothing wrong all. You will always have trouble in the world so there is no point looking for peace in the world because the peace the world gives is only temporary and flawed.

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart I have overcome the world.

John 16:33

Jesus has overcome for your sake and switched your ashes for beauty. Do not look for peace and comfort in the world, you will not find it. The peace you have in Jesus will surpass everyone’s understanding and expectation for Jesus is the Prince of Peace.

Give God Your Ashes

God does not want us to perish but to come to repentance and so He is patiently waiting on you to give up your si full ways and cry out to Him in those ashes.

No time is to late for God, and He is not slow as we measure our slowness in our eyes. If you can upon Him, He will respond in a way that you’ll wonder why you hadn’t made the decision earlier. God is never late. If you can only give up your ashes, you’ll receive beauty instead.

the Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9

Repent Genuinely

You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, had set you above your companions by anointing you will the oil of joy.

Hebrews 1:19

Do not be self-righteous, but love righteousness in all sincerity. Without this integrity of repentance, your transformation may not happen and even if it does, it would not be complete and it will be short lived.

Let your character not be deceitful in private but decent I. Public. God dislikes deceitfulness and duality of nature. If you’re neither hot nor cold, God will spit you out. This means that God will cut you off from His eternal inheritance and cause you to remain in your ashes forever. It also means that you will be ultimately destroyed in the second death, where there are everlasting ashes.

The Oppressor Spirit

Don’t fall for the Oppressor spirit that comes to pit doubt in your heart, ti give you fear, to paralyze you with discouragement to the point that you no longer pray or read your Bible.

We must pray and fight against such forces. They come to distract us, and put us down and if we don’t identify then we can fall into a deep depression, hopelessness, sadness, fear, anxiety and so on.

Beware of this spirit, even if you don’t feel like it pray. If you don’t like reading the Bible read it any way. Even if it just a few verses. If you don’t feel like worshiping, worship anyway. God always has your back. Just like that God will strengthen you against all the oppression that Satan tries to put on you.

Ask the Lord for His strength in your time of weakness. And it will be given to you. There is power in the name of Jesus and His power abides in you. You need to fight the good fight with faith.

Remember “If God is for us, who can stand against us. He that spared not His own son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not be with Him also give us all things. -Romans 8:31.

Guard Your Heart And Mind

Above all else, guard your heart, it is the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23

I take guarding my heart and mind seriously. There are lots of television programs, movies, music, and magazines, or even news that I won’t watch, or listen to, or read. If I want to be saturated and empowered by the Holy Spirit, the last thing I want to do is to suppress Him with ungodly and ungracious clamor.

I want to understand and interact with people in our society in prevalent, meaningful generous, and loving way, but watching and listening to unwholesome programs, and thinking about ungodly and worldly things can give the enemy a faith-destroying foothold into our lives.

The Bible gives us good advice about how we can guard our hearts.

  • We can guard our Hearts and Minds Through The Knowledge Of God’s Word.

Knowing the Bible we’ll is key. An author of the Letter to the Hebrews has said, “Solid food is for the mature who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. -Hebrews 5:14.

Paul says in Romans 16:19 that God wants us to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil. We do not need a comprehensive understanding of the Kingdom of Darkness to be able to recognize and defeat forces. But we need to be wise about God and His ways, and lead lives that are informed, guided, edified, and empowered by His word and His Holy Spirit.

  • We can guard our hearts and minds through Prayer and Noble thoughts.

Paul promises that God will guard our hearts and minds when we submit everything to Him in prayer ( Philippians4:6-7). Paul continues this theme of the guarded heart and mind in the very next verse,

“Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whstiis lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or worthy of praise – think about these things. – Phillippians 4:8.

If we are constantly desiring worldly things, and thinking worldly, shallow, and mean-spirited thoughts that don’t include God, we are letting our guard down.

Paul’s advice:

Set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your m da on things above not on worldly things.

Colossians 3:1-2
  • We can guard our hearts and minds through Holy and Consecrated living.

As well as virtuous thoughts, we also need to live virtuous lives. As representatives of Jesus and His Kingdom, we need to set high standards for ourselves in regards to faith, love, generosity, and holiness. In several of Paul’s letters, he urges believers to live their lives in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ. (Eph: 4:1; Phil 1:27; Col 1:10: 1 Thess 2:12).

Many modern Christians seem to have lost the desire to live Holy and Helpful lives that are consecrated to God. I wonder why that is? When was the last time we heard a message about keeping our hearts and minds clean?

God calls us to nothing less than Holiness (Eph 5:26-27; 1 Pet 1:15-16). “We were created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:24). This is a high calling.

However, while it is important that as we aim for personal holiness, we need to be careful that we don’t impose our standards on others of judge others who do not share our aspirations. We must let God do the sanctifying work in ourselves and in others, and this work takes time.

God calls us to offer up our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to Him, and be conformed to the pattern of this world. This necessitates having our minds transformed and renewed. Only then can we respond to His will accordingly. (Romans 12:1-2).

  • We can Allow God to Guard our Hearts and Minds.

As well as the external evil influences that threaten to infiltrate and sully our hearts and minds, we must also be on our guard from our own internal sinful pressures.

Jeremiah, in perhaps a dark moment observed,

The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?

Jeremiah 17:9

But God answered his question with reassurance:

“I the Lord, search the heart and examine the mind.” – Jeremiah 17:10

When we continually offer our heart and mind to God, he will search it and sanctify it with His Holy Spirit. King David wrote,

Search me, O’ God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me. (Psalm 139:23-24).

Paul wrote about internal struggles with sin. He wrote that it is only Bod, through Jesus, who can rescue a person from his inherent nature (Romans 7: 15-25). Only God can cleanse our hearts and minds, but we need to cooperate with His work.

Paul was committed to guarding his heart and mind and taking every thought captive to ( under the control of) Jesus (2 Corinthians 10:5). This happens when we are led by the Spirit and live God’s way.

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit. To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace, Romans8:5-6.

A mind and heart set on God is a peaceful trusting heart. -Isaiah 26:3.

I am committed to being close to God and living for Him. I don’t want anything to jeopardize that. So I am also committed to guarding my heart.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. – Matthew 5:8

Recipe For Overcoming Challenges

Sometimes there is no logical solution to life’s challenges but faith. Fear says you situation is permanent. Logic says it’s impossible. Facts say it doesn’t make any sense. Science says follow the logic and consider the facts. Math says it doesn’t add up. Time says it’s too late. Age says you’re to young or too old. Education says you’re not novice. People say it’s never been done before. The past says check you history. Scars say you’re about to get hurt again. Comfort says it’s really not worth the trouble. The future says you don’t belong here. The pocket says you can’t afford it.

But Faith says, “ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:14). Don’t seek logical solutions to every life’s challenges. Sometimes you just have to believe. “We walk by faith, not by sight” (Corinthians 5:7). Feed your faith and all the other negative voices will starve to death! Face 2022 will faith in God and all your dreams will come true.

Remember we are partners in this journey called life. 1 Corinthians 10:13 says “ No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to endure it.

Resilience

What Is resilience? It is what gives people the physiological strength to cope with stress and hardship. It is the mental reservoir of strength that people are able to call in in times of need to carry them through without falling apart. Psychologicogists believe that resilient individuals are better able to handle adversity and rebuild their lives after a struggle.

Dealing with change or loss is an inevitable part of life. At some point everyone experiences varying degrees of setbacks. Some of these challenges might be relatively minor with others are disastrous on a much larger scale,

How we deal with these problems can play a significant role in not only the outcome but also the long-term psychological consequences. The good news is that there are things we can do to become more resilient.

People who remain calm in the face of disaster have what is called resilience. Resilient people are able to utilize their skills and strengths to cope and recover from problems and challenges.

These problems may include:

  • Job loss
  • Financial problems
  • Illness
  • Natural disasters
  • Medical emergencies
  • Divorce
  • Death of loved ones

Instead of falling into despair or hiding from problems with unhealthy coping strategies, resilient people face life’s difficulties head on.

This does not mean that they experience less distress, grief, or anxiety than other people do. It means that they use healthy coping skills to handle such difficulties in ways that foster strength and growth. In many cases, they may emerge even stronger than they were before.

Have you ever heard the saying “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger?” Resilient people more than likely believe this is true.

Those who lack this resistance may instead become overwhelmed by such experiences. They may dwell on problems and use unhelpful coping mechanisms to deal with life’s challenges.

Disappointment or failure might drive them to unhealthy, destructive, or even dangerous behaviors. These individuals are slower to recover from setbacks and may experience more psychological distress as a result.

What Resilience Provides

Resilience does not eliminate stress or erase life’s difficulties. People who possess this quality don’t see life through rose-colored lenses; they understand that setbacks happen and that sometimes life is hard and painful. They still experience the negative emotions that come after a tragedy, but their mental outlook allows them to work through these feeling and recover.

Believe me when I tell you for the first 37 years of my life I was far from being resilient. I had to teach myself.

Resilience gives people the strength to tackle problems head-on and overcome adversity, and move on with their lives.

In the wake of the Hurricanes, and the 9/11 attack many people demonstrated the behaviors that show resilience and they experienced few symptoms of depression as a result.

Even in the face of events that seem utterly unimaginable, resilience allows people to marshal the strength to not just survive but to prosper

Who Is Resilient, And Why?

Some people come by these abilities naturally with personality traits that help them remain unflappable in the face of a challenge. However, these behaviors are not just inborn traits found in a select few. Resilience is a result of the complex series of internal and external characteristics, including genetics, physical fitness, mental health, and environment.

Social support is another critical variable that contributed to resilience. Mentally strong people tend to have the support of family and friends who help lift them up in times of trouble.

To become resilient you have to change your perspective on life. Be able to face your fears and push through life’s most difficult times.

Here are a few characteristics that resilient people show:

  • They hold positive views of themselves and their abilities
  • They possess the capacity to make realistic plans and stick to them.
  • They have an internal focus on control.
  • They are good communicators
  • They view themselves as fighters rather than victims
  • They have emotional intelligence and learn how to manga their emotions effectively.

How To Build Resilience

Fortunately, resilience is something that you can build both in yourself and in your children. There are distinct steps that you can take to become more resilient.

1. Reframe Your Thoughts

Resilient people are able to look at negative situations realistically, but in a way that doesn’t center on blame or brooding over what cannot be changed. Instead of viewing adversity as insurmountable, reframe your thoughts to look for small ways that you can tackle the problems and make changes that will help.

Focusing on the positive things you can do will help you get out of a negative mindset.

You can also use this approach to help children learn how to better cope with challenges. Encourage them to think about challenges in a more positive, hopeful ways. This way, instead of getting stuck in a vicious loop of negative emotions, your child can learn to see these events as opportunities to challenge themselves and develop ow skills.

2. Seek Support

Talking about the difficulties you are coping with doesn’t make them go away, but sharing with a supportive friend or loved one can make you feel like you have someone in your corner, which could help you build your resilience. Discussing tings with other people can also help you better manage the challenges you’re dealing with.

I have a resilience partner – it’s my son. I talk to him everyday and we discuss things that are going on I. Our lives. And bounce things off each other when we have challenges to deal with.

3. Focus On What You Can Control

This is a huge one for some. Their minds automatically go to the things they cannot control. When faced with a crisis or problem, it can beat to get overwhelmed by things that feel far beyond your control. Instead of wishing there is someway you could go back and change things, try focusing only on the things you can directly impact. Encourage your child to develop this skill by talking about their situation and helping them make a plan for how they can react.

Even when the situation seems dire, taking realistic steps can be,p improve it. No matter how small theses steps may be, they can improve you or your child’s sense of control and resilience.

4. Manage Stress

Building healthy stress management habits is a effective way to increase your overall resilience. These habits could include behaviors that help your overall health, like getting enough sleep, and exercise, as well as specific actions you can take during moments of stress, like:

  • Constructive restructuring
  • Breathing exercises
  • Expressive writing
  • Learning biofeedback techniques
  • Practicing effective communication
  • Problem solving
  • Muscle relaxation

With practice these skills can be learned and mastered by adults and children alike. Eventually, you or your child will feel prepared to face stressful situations and be resilient enough to bounce back quickly. If you need he,o learning to keep stress levels under control consider talking to a cognitive therapist.

The Lost And Broken

The left side: Those that witness and minister to the lost and broken about Christ Jesus, the Scriptures and their own testimony. Are those who are walking and being directed by the Holy Spirit daily.

The right side: Those who only go to church on Sundays just to “Feel Good” or to “Be good with the man upstairs,” just like their parents taught them.

Those who Never speak or think of Christ Jesus except to say thank you for giving what I want.

Those that Do Not know the Gospel of Jesus because they Do Not study the Scriptures on their own, So they only say “Jesus is good ,” as if that will change lives.
